Karaganda transferred 17.5 million tenge to her neighbor for safekeeping and forgot about it, reports zakon.kz with a link to the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On February 18, a 64-year-old resident of the city applied to the Central Police Department of the Karaganda Unitary Enterprise. She said that she was in the hospital for several days. After completing a course of treatment, the pensioner returned home and found that an unknown thief had visited her apartment. The attacker, apparently having picked up the keys, entered the victim’s living quarters and stole considerable funds – 5 million tenge and $ 30 thousand. The total damage amounted to 17.5 million tenge. On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under article 188 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Theft”, – the message says.

Reportedly, later, when the police began to carry out operational-search measures to establish the identity of the thief and arrest him, the victim suddenly recalled that before her hospitalization, she had given all the funds for temporary storage to a neighbor. She returned the money to the pensioner safe and sound.

It is noted that in connection with the newly discovered circumstances, the criminal case was terminated due to the absence of a criminal offense in the act.
