COVID-19 spread slows down – WHO
The rate of spread of coronavirus in the world decreases… This was stated by the WHO, reports zakon.kz with reference to RIA Novosti.
This is a good moment to highlight the fact that we are seeing a decrease in the number of incidents in a number of countries, said WHO expert Maria van Kerkhoven.
According to the WHO expert, this was achieved primarily through the use of measures that interrupt the chains of transmission of the virus. Another, “incredibly powerful tool” in the fight against coronavirus, she called vaccination.
At the same time, Kerkhoven urged countries in which the number of new cases of COVID-19 are declining to continue to comply with measures to combat the pandemic.
Earlier, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that there were more people who received the vaccine against COVID-19 than the sick.
On the one hand, this is good news and an amazing achievement in such a short space of time. But more than three-quarters of these vaccinations are in just 10 countries, where nearly 60% of global GDP is accumulated, he added at a briefing.
Ghebreyesus reiterated his call on states that have already vaccinated the most vulnerable parts of the population and medical workers to share surplus vaccines with other countries before continuing with mass vaccinations.
