American actor Steven Seagal, who received Russian citizenship in 2016, announced his desire to join the Just Russia party, reports zakon.kz.

The press secretary of the party’s co-chairman Zakhar Prilepin, Elizaveta Kondakova, told the Open Media edition.

On Saturday, Sigal will take part in a meeting of the chambers of deputies of the party, in which it is planned to discuss the results of the first 100 days of the party’s work, according to the announcement of the event. After the meeting, Sigal is expected to receive his party card.

Steven Seagal received Russian citizenship in 2016 by decree of Vladimir Putin. The President of the Russian Federation personally handed him a passport. In 2018, the actor attended the inauguration of Vladimir Putin and the Victory Day parade on Red Square. In the same year, by order of the Russian Foreign Minister, Sigal was appointed Special Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry for humanitarian relations between Russia and the United States. The American actor also registered an individual entrepreneur to perform at corporate parties.

In 2018, Sigal proposed himself to be the governor of the Primorsky Territory. He made the corresponding statement at a meeting with viewers in Vladivostok at the international film festival of the Asia-Pacific region “Pacific Meridian”. Later, the first vice-speaker of the State Duma from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Ivan Melnikov, said that the communists did not intend to nominate the Hollywood actor as governor of the Primorsky Territory.
