Tokayev and Japarov signed a Joint Statement

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sadyr Japarov held talks in an expanded format, reports zakon.kz.

According to Akorda, the heads of state discussed in detail the prospects for further strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance, and also exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda. The main emphasis at the talks in an expanded format was placed on building up trade and economic partnership and close interaction in the political, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Welcoming the Kyrgyz delegation, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the two countries are traditionally linked by fraternal bonds of friendship and cooperation.

I want to note that we are always ready to support and provide all-round support to our Kyrgyz brothers. Since time immemorial, we have been linked by good-neighborly, fraternal relations, friendship and unity. Folk wisdom keeps many bright proverbs and sayings about kinship and closeness of Kazakhs and Kyrgyz, – the President of Kazakhstan emphasized.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that during the negotiations in a narrow format, the main directions of further interaction between the countries were determined.

It is gratifying to note that there are no issues between our countries on which we could not find mutually acceptable solutions. On the contrary, we expressed our readiness to promptly and constructively approach any aspect of our interaction. We welcome that Kyrgyzstan, under your leadership, has confirmed its determination to resolve all issues and implement the previously reached agreements. For my part, I assure that Kazakhstan remains firmly committed to the course towards a comprehensive deepening of strategic partnership and allied relations between our countries, the head of state noted.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic thanked the leadership and people of Kazakhstan for their assistance and readiness to provide support and all possible assistance in the fight against coronavirus.

Today’s negotiations are traditionally held in the spirit of allied relations and strategic partnership, which characterize the relationship between our states. At a meeting in a narrow format, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich and I touched upon a number of important issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction of our countries within the framework of regional and international organizations. I want to state that there are no political contradictions between our countries, – said Sadyr Japarov.

The parties agreed on the need for a comprehensive expansion of business ties, the development of investment interaction, the joint use of the transport and transit potential of the two countries, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the field of digitalization.

Taking into account the cultural, historical and linguistic commonality of the two peoples, the Presidents reaffirmed their commitment to further develop cooperation in the fields of science, education, healthcare, culture, tourism and sports.

Following the negotiations, the following documents were signed:

Joint statement of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic;

Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the provision of gratuitous military-technical assistance;

Agreement between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the development of national sports and folk games;

The program of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2021-2022;

Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Committees of Information Technologies and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic;

Plan of joint activities of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2021–2022;

Protocol of the Minister of Energy, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Minister of Energy and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic on the exchange of electricity;

Action plan for cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2021.
