The former deputy head of the Kushmurun colony was convicted of torture, reports zakon.kz.

As reported by “TobolInfo”, the colony itself is no longer on the map of the region, but the deputy head of the institution of the Criminal Code 161/4 Azat Shokanov, who distinguished himself in May last year by his zeal for the use of physical violence against a convict, not only ended badly in his career, but also left work with a criminal record.

The trial lasted more than one month. This was due to the fact that all the convicts who witnessed that incident during the reform of the institution were outside the region. Victim Elimkhan Mamedov is serving a sentence in Aktobe. In addition, the witnesses – former colleagues quit their jobs or transferred to another service.

It is noted that during the debate, the state prosecutor asked for 2.5 years of real imprisonment for Shokanov, but the court sentenced him to 2.5 years of restriction of freedom.

It should be noted that this is one of the few criminal cases under the article “Torture” that has reached the court.

As the lawyer of Shokanov Sergei Ponomorev said, they intend to appeal against the verdict in the appellate instance of the regional court.
