SpaceX will send space tourists into orbit before the end of the year
SpaceX plans by the end of the year to carry out a first-of-its-kind exclusively commercial mission to space, a set of space tourists announced, reports zakon.kz with a link to Lenta.ru.
The mission is called Inspiration4 and is sponsored by Shift4 Payments founder Jared Isaacman. Isaacman, a 37-year-old businessman, the largest payment processing player in the United States, a keen aviator and participant in numerous air shows, will be the commander of the first fully touring crew in orbit. He will pay for three other astronauts in the crew, the company said on its website.
The mission to low-earth orbit, which will begin from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral, will continue for several days, but the details of the mission have not yet been released.
You can become a member of the crew by making a donation to the Children’s Cancer Hospital, which is sponsored by the upcoming flight. You can apply for selection on the special mission website, leaving a minimum contribution of $ 10 – the donation goes to help children with cancer, and also gives a potential chance to fly into space.
According to the organizers, a larger contribution increases your chances of being selected, and also gives you the opportunity to receive souvenirs. The company said the names of the space tourists will be announced within a month. All preparations for the flight will be conducted by SpaceX.
