US Senate chooses new Secretary of State

The Senate of the United States of America officially approved Anthony Blinken as Secretary of State of the United States on January 26, reports zakon.kz.

78 senators voted for such a decision, 22 against, reports TASS.

In the near future, 58-year-old Blinken will take the oath.

From 2009 to 2013, he was Joe Biden’s national security adviser during his vice presidency under Barack Obama. Subsequently, he became Deputy Adviser to the President for National Security, and later – Deputy Secretary of State. In 2017, he moved to political consulting, and later became a key foreign policy adviser on the team of presidential candidate Joe Biden.
