According to Lenta.ru, the military closed the air and land borders and imposed a curfew in the country.

The President and Prime Minister have resigned. Negotiations on their release and the formation of a new government are ongoing, ”the military officials said in a commentary sent to Reuters.

Earlier, the military spoke about guarantees of new elections.

It is noted that the role in the coup was played by the country’s vice-president Assimi Gotha.
