High-ranking Rosgvardia officers arrested in Moscow

In Moscow, two high-ranking officers of the Russian Guard were arrested, reports zakon.kz.

According to TASS, the head of the department for the formation of a unified technical policy and the implementation of innovative technologies in the security activities of police units of the GUVO of the Russian Guard Sergei Vorobyov and his deputy Alexander Shvetsov were detained.

Investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia detained Sergei Ivanovich Vorobyov and his deputy, Alexander Vladimirovich Shvetsov, in the course of operational search activities. They were charged under Part 3 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of office by a person holding a public office, which entailed grave consequences), a source in law enforcement agencies told the agency.

As noted, the interlocutor of the agency did not give details of the criminal case.

Currently, measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances, as well as interaction with the investigating authorities is being carried out, ” Valery Gribakin, an official representative of the Russian Guard, commented to TASS on the detention of high-ranking officers of the department.

In turn, the press service of the Basmanny Court of Moscow informed the agency that Sergei Vorobyov was sent to a pre-trial detention center.

The Basmanny Court granted the investigator’s petition to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Sergei Vorobyov, accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 33, part 3 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. It is also reported that a similar decision to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention was made in relation to Alexander Shvetsov.
